Can you use CBD to quit smoking?

Can we use CBD to quit smoking?

Two recent studies performed by the University College London found out that CBD has potential in helping people to definitely quit cigarettes. But how can you use CBD to have such a result? The first study published in 2013 found out that drugs that alter endocannabinoid system may be an effective treatment for nicotine addiction. In this experience, they gave 12 dependent smokers a CBD inhaler and another 12 smokers a placebo inhaler to use in case of cigarette craving. The CBD inhaler reduced their cigarette intake by 40%. The placebo had no significant change.

Another one held in May 2018 came out of the UK. 30 dependent smokers were given 800mg of CBD orally or a matched placebo. They found out that such a dose of CBD could help to reduce “pleasantness” of cigarette cue especially when participants had not smoked during the day and also after showing them “pictorial tobacco cues”. “These findings are exciting as they suggest CBD may interfere with some of the underlying mechanisms behind tobacco addiction and could potentially be a treatment for people who are trying to quit”

Dr. Amir Englund at King’s College London told iNews UK.

CBD to help fulfilling a missing habit

These studies show that CBD to quit smoking might work. More than overcoming a physical addiction, it’s also the process of breaking a bad habit. While it induces stress, smoking CBD rich-flower or vaping a CBD-dominant cannabis oil could both relieve anxiety as well as fulfill a missing habit.

How to use CBD to quit smoking : CBD has many medical benefits as on anxiety and pain-relief. Plus CBD products derived from hemp with 1 percent of THC or less. Replacing tobacco with CBD flower could be the easiest way to quit smoking cigarettes, of course, if the aim is to completely avoid smoking then, better to use it only for a few weeks. What helps then is integrating new habits in your routine, replacing the smoking one: taking a walk after a meal or a cup of tea during a time when you would normally have a cigarette. Of course, replacing tobacco cigarettes with CBD cigarettes isn’t a long-term solution, but it can help the transition.

Studies have also shown that taking a daily dose of CBD can help recovering addicts quit other substances as well, such as opioids and cocaine. In a nutshell, smoking a CBD joint won’t get you high, but will still help you in reducing stress of tobacco deprivation.
